DAYSIE'S PLAN TO PERK UP WOMEN’S BIZ

Who runs the world? Girls, of course. At least that’s what Beyonce says. But until everyone agrees with Bey, we’ll do what we can to make it happen. We’ll start by sharing 2.1% of Daysie’s post-tax profits with vetted organizations that provide grants to women CPG business owners. And our plan is to increase that amount as Daysie grows. It’s our way of using a brand built to raise the standard of your daily drink to support the women poised to do the same for our world.

Our series, Behind The Mug, is one of the ways we're helping shine a spotlight on other female founders.

Brand Name: a|dash - a lower caffeine, organic cold brew coffee infused with your daily dash of adaptogens.

WHAT FILLS YOUR CUP?

Forming authentic and deep connections is something which has always been extremely important to me and really fills my cup on the daily. Spending time with my nephews and watching them grow into amazing humans brings me insane amounts of joy. But the ability to experience new places, things, foods, beverages, and cultures through travel with my husband is hands down the single thing that more than fills my cup every single time.

WHAT KEEPS YOU UP @ NIGHT?

Literally everything and nothing. I have a really hard time shutting my brain off all times of the day. But, as soon my husband or I put on a true crime podcast after crawling into bed, I can fall asleep within minutes.

AS AN ENTREPRENEUR WHAT KEEPS YOU ON THE GRIND?

Purpose and mission. The belief that what we have created is not only something special, but something that can truly benefit so many people in this country who are struggling with health and wellness. Creating authentic relationships within our community to help share the benefits of adaptogens with as many people as possible is what makes the grind worth it every day.

WHAT'S YOUR SUPERPOWER?

My superpower would have to be shapeshifting (adaptability). I have been afforded the privilege to make the choices to intentionally put myself in uncomfortable situations throughout my life. From turning down athletic scholarships at several schools in the Midwest, where I grew up, to attend COFC as a walk-on my first season or leaving a very lucrative career in my early 20’s to move to a country where I didn’t know a soul or speak the language, the desire to push myself outside of my comfort zone has always been strong. Putting myself into this situations has given me the remarkable ability to shapeshift/adapt; to take whatever set of circumstances I have to work with, wherever I am and make it work. It has also given me a unique sense of empathy, or an ability to put myself in the (hypothetical) position of others quite easily. While I always have my core ethos (shape), I am able to shift in a way to connect with and relate to others with ease and comfort.

98% OF VC MONEY ENDS UP IN THE HANDS OF MEN. WHAT FEMALE BRAND DO YOU THINK DESERVES A PIECE OF THE PIE RIGHT NOW?

There are SO many, including a few who have just had successful VC raises, so I won’t mention those. Two of my personal favorite female-founders are Ashley Nickelsen of B.T.R Bars  and Emily Griffith of Lil Bucks. They have created brands that I really admire. Their respective missions and purposes are very much aligned with why we created a|dash, to share best-for-you ingredients that bring function to products we already love and consume regularly. I would love to see them receive funding to help them continue to scale to make their products as convenient and accessible as possible to all.
