DAYSIE'S PLAN TO PERK UP WOMEN’S BIZ

Who runs the world? Girls, of course. At least that’s what Beyonce says. But until everyone agrees with Bey, we’ll do what we can to make it happen. We’ll start by sharing 2.1% of Daysie’s post-tax profits with vetted organizations that provide grants to women CPG business owners. And our plan is to increase that amount as Daysie grows. It’s our way of using a brand built to raise the standard of your daily drink to support the women poised to do the same for our world.

Our series, Behind The Mug, is one of the ways we're helping shine a spotlight on other female founders. 

MEET MOLLY FIENNING, CEO & Co-Founder of Red Clay Hot Sauce- Molly is a renaissance woman, serial entrepreneur and huge supporter of female founded brands, plus she makes the BEST spicy coconut margarita (more on that later)!

We couldn't be more thrilled to welcome her to our series, Behind The Mug. 

WHAT'S YOUR GO-TO COFFEE ORDER?

A cortado with whole milk if I'm at a cafe. When I'm home, I love a morning latte with my favorite Italian stovetop espresso maker, Bialetti. Plus, a little drizzle of Daysie salted caramel for a bit of yummy sweetness. 

FAVORITE COFFEE SHOP YOU'VE EVER BEEN TO?

In Charleston, I love Baba's on Cannon for its coffee and small bites. I love the Standard cafe in Miami and take my cortado to sit outside by the lush greenery and work--I could stay there all morning and move right over to the pool with a book for the afternoon. Also any cafe in Paris, because Paris. There's no better people watching. 

WHAT FILLS YOUR CUP?

Spending time with my boys, laughing/dancing/singing with my girlfriends, walking the Battery at dusk, the ocean.

WHAT KEEPS YOU UP @ NIGHT?

We're in the middle of a Seed Capital Raise for Red Clay. This will be our third raise, and asking others for money is not my nature thus a big growth curve for me every time. 

AS AN ENTREPRENEUR WHAT KEEPS YOU ON THE GRIND?

I love what we're building at Red Clay -- the delicious products, the thoughtful, kind team, our brand's aesthetic vibe and loving, loyal community of customers. There's a lot to do, but so much of it doesn't feel like work at all because it inspires me. I love what I am learning. I love the leader I am slowly becoming because of Red Clay.

WHAT'S YOUR SUPERPOWER?

A commitment to persevere and pivot through the hard times and be present to enjoy the awesome, exciting times. I know the Universe is guiding me on this journey for some greater good, for a reason I don't yet know...and it's fun to discover more about the why every day. 

98% OF VC MONEY ENDS UP IN THE HANDS OF MEN. WHAT FEMALE BRAND DO YOU THINK DESERVES A PIECE OF THE PIE RIGHT NOW?

I'm going to go with Red Clay !! :) We're growing rapidly (just launched all doors at Whole Foods Market in January) and are currently raising capital to scale into Target and Costco later this year. We also have a new Spicy Cocktail Sauce coming out in May, which is fresh and yummy-I can't wait to launch it. I also love Brightland, founded by one of my faves Aishwarya Iyer, and the dynamic duo sisters behind Neely & Chloe as female-led business investments. I personally am putting some money into both of them.
